Alfred Parks, Ii

October 19, 1958 — July 4, 2014

Obituary Alfred Hall Parks II, 55, passed away on July 4, 2014. Born in 1958 to Doris Mullen Parks and Alfred Hall Parks Sr., Al was a devoted and loving provider to his family. He was an adored son, husband, father, uncle, brother, nephew, cousin, grandfather, and friend. Big Al was always the life of the party. Never one to turn down an invite or miss an opportunity for a joke, Big Al was boisterous, fun, and totally unforgettable. He was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger in his life. As a lover of music, Al taught himself to play guitar at a young age and was a member of many bands throughout his life. Music constantly filled the house and was a source of comfort and a reliever of stress during difficult times. As a self-proclaimed computer nerd, Al was the family tech geek and was always excited to be on the cutting edge of new technology. As a practicing Catholic, Al was a member of many Catholic communities. Saint Michaels (Cary, NC), Saint Mary Magdalene (Apex, NC), and Annunciation (Havelock, NC) were all places that Al called home. He was a Second Degree Knight with the Monseigneur Frank J. Howard #6648 Knights of Columbus of Havelock, NC. He was very proud to call these men, brothers. He devoted his time, talent, and treasure to all of these communities and passed on his love of his faith to his children and grandchildren. Nothing delighted Al more than his family. His wife of 33 years, Susan, was his best friend and rock from the age of 16. His daughters; Stefanie Horgan (Michael) and Alison Madern (James) brought him joy and tons of smiles. They truly are, and will forever remain, Daddys girls. He passed on to his sons; Brian Parks and Kevin Parks his love of music. Each time they hit the stage to play, his eyes would light up and he would beam with pride. Known as Do-Do to his grandchildren, Andrew and Jacob Horgan and Leo and Zo Madern, there was nothing in this world that delighted him more. Watching them run and play, Do-Do would obviously cherish every moment. He was excited to meet the three more grandchildren that were on the way. He is also survived by his brother, Frank Tucker; aunt, Patricia Mullen and a large extended family. Al was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother, Thomas. His family and friends will miss him, but know that he is forever at peace with his Heavenly Father.
