Charles Allen Moore

Obituary Charles Allen Moore, 80, of Beaufort died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Carteret Health Care, Morehead City. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at St. Pauls Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Carlitso officiating. The committal will follow at the church columbarium. Allen was born July 9, 1936 in Raleigh to Roy N. Moore, Sr. and Mamie Durham Moore. After graduating from Garner High School in 1954, he went to Davidson College. He was an accomplished athlete and was a pitcher on the baseball team at Davidson. After graduating from Davidson in 1958, Allen worked as a bank examiner for the State of North Carolina and held several positions with various banks in Raleigh before retiring to Beaufort, NC in 1997. During his retirement, he was an avid golfer. He served on the board of directors of the Morehead City Country Club and Carteret General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Washington Moore; sons, Michael Moore of Raleigh and Marty Moore of Beaufort. He is also survived by his brother, Roy Moore, Jr. of Raleigh. He was much loved by all of his family and friends and was a very generous person. He leaves behind his very special furry friend and companion, Tina. He was preceded in death by his sister, Francis Thayer. The family will receive friends at the church parish hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 215 Ann Street, Beaufort, NC 28516.
