Elfriede Wetherington

Obituary Elfriede B. Wetherington, 75, of Beaufort, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Carteret General Hospital. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2015, at St. Egbert Catholic Church, with the pastor, the Rev. Thomas R. Davis, officiating. The interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at New Bern National Cemetery. Mrs. Wetherington was born on January 10, 1940 in Germany to Johann and Anna Mueller Kaczikowski. She is survived by two daughters, Christine W. Cantrell and husband, Bon, of Southport, NC and Patricia Ross and husband, Jeffry, of Leesville, LA; son, John Wetherington and wife, Kim, of Beaufort, NC; sisters, Hilde Pichler of Byrdsboro, PA, Teresia Johnson of East Hartford, CT, and Ruth Zankl of PA; and six grandchildren. In addition to her parents, her husband, Charles Street Wetherington, Jr.; sister, Elizabeth Kaczikowski; son, Peter Wetherington; and grandson, John Wetherington, Jr., preceded her in death. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Sunday, March 15, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2418 Blue Ridge Road-Suite 206, Raleigh, NC 27607.
