Obituary Eula Marie Newman Parkin age 91 of Beaufort, died January 25, 2018 in Charlottesville, VA A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 30th at St. Pauls Episcopal Church Cemetery in Beaufort. The Rev. Michael Singer will officiate. Eula was born in Panhandle, Texas to Andrew Jackson and Monnie Mae Graves Newman on December 31, 1926. She held a Masters Degree in Education and taught second grade at Camp Glen for nineteen years. She was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Beaufort from 1974 until 2015 and was devoted to her Christian faith and the church. Eula felt it was important to support the community both in civically and politically. A life time member of Girl Scouts, Eula served in the organization for over 50 years, until her health declined. She was also a member of The Daughter's of the King and volunteered at the Maritime Museum in Beaufort until 2014. She volunteered her time in elections by handing out voters guides and copies of the US Constitution. She and her husband were fortunate to travel all over the United States and Europe. Eula was passionate about travel and enjoyed the exploration and learning that only travel can provide. Even after Herberts death in 2006, she continued traveling with her children and grandchildren until her health prevented her from doing so. Eula was a vivacious and loving woman, devoted to her community and her family. Eula is survived by her two daughters; Eula Mae Brooks of Oxford and Mariel Elizabeth Escobar Parkin of Morehead City; and a son, Thomas Andrew Parkin of Charlottesville, VA; seven grandchildren, Christy, Cindy, Jennifer, Melissa, James, Wesley and Thomas; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Spencer and Maggie. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Home and Crematory of Morehead City.
