Obituary Franklin Michael Eskew, 78, of Havelock, passed away with his family by his side on Monday, March 7, 2022 at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City. A Celebration Of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Frank was born in Kansas City, MO on June 3, 1943 to Calvin Coolidge Eskew and Nayomia Izora Eskew. Frank grew up in a military family and continued the tradition by joining the United States Coast Guard in May of 1962. He was known to most as "Senior Chief" or "Eskew". He had a full career of 33 years with many duty stations. Those included USCGC Eastwind, Coast Guard Station Marathon, Florida, USCGC Hollyhock, Coast Guard Division 3, New York, NY, Coast Guard Base Gloucester City, NJ, USCGC Gallatin, Coast Guard District 3, USCGC Walnut, USCGC Resolute, Coast Guard Support Center, Governers Island, NY, USCGC Chilula, USCGC Petrel, USCGC Shearwater, US Coast Guard Group Sault Saint Marie, Michigan, USCGC Petrel and finally retirement in June of 1995 at USCG Group Fort Macon, Atlantic Beach. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Julia Lewis Eskew of the home, sons, Michael Eskew and fianc, Julie Masson, of Mebane, NC; Paul Eskew and wife, Mee, of Greenville, SC; Robert Eskew of Havelock; Luther Lewis and fianc, Kathy Ballou, of Newport, NC; Joseph Scruggs and wife, Jessica, of Newport, NC; daughters, Heather Hobbs of Jacksonville, NC; Misti Taylor and husband, Chris and Mary Magara and husband, Allen, all of Morehead City. 24 grandchildren, Christopher Eskew (Kortni); Austin Eskew; Angie Baker (Matthew); Candace Eskew; Paula Eskew; Brandon Hobbs; Kailey Hix(Stephen); Christopher Hobbs; Noah Lewis; Joseph Scruggs; Joshua Scruggs; Adrianna Scruggs; JT Scruggs; Skylar Scruggs; Daxton Scruggs; Charlotte Scruggs; Tiana Teague (Sammy); Bubba Taylor; Israel Long; AJ Magara; Aaron Magara; Aleigh Magara; Madison Dixon and Juliet Dixon. 21 great grandchildren, Raylan, Maddie, Xoe, Izzabella, Owen, Samuel, Lilly, Wyatt, Charlotte, Major, Sophia, Jabari, Jacobi, Cooper, Carson, Aubriella, Elysia, Alexander, Brayleigh, Cooper and Taysen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Coolidge Eskew and Nayomia Izora Eskew, brothers, Norman Terry, James Eskew and Calvin Eskew and sister, Juanita Eskew, and his faithful furry friend Fancy, who he affectionately called "Mutt". Flowers are welcome or donations can be made to the US Coast Guard Auxiliary in memory of Frank.
