James Edwin “Eddie” Idol, 82, of Newport, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Carteret Health Care of Morehead City. Due to complications of Covid.
He was born January 4, 1942 to Charles and Dorothy Idol of Kernersville, NC. He attended Guilford College in Greensboro, NC until 1962. He entered the US Army and served in Special Forces and Army Security. His tour of duty lasted ten years, spending time in Southeast Asia, Cambodia and Turkey. He attended All Saints Anglican Church in Newport where he was a member of the choir.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at All Saints Anglican Church.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Idol of Newport; two children, Craig Idol and wife, Gina; Scott Idol and wife, Pam; grandchildren: Kendell, Karmen, Anna, and Elisha; two stepchildren, Michelle Moore and husband, Derrick; Mitchell Harb Jr.; step grandchildren: Brooke Peeler and husband, Josh, Brett Moore; step great grandchildren: Pressley and Kaleb Peeler; and his wonderful pet dog, Marley that was his buddy and he loved dearly.
