A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, Morehead City, with Rev. Timothy Havlicek officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Jim was born in Alliance, Ohio, on February 20, 1930, to William and Mary Maus Connor, and graduated from Mount Union College in 1954. Shortly after graduation, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Jean Neff, and they began their journey through life together. Jim served in the Coast Guard in Port Arthur, Texas and in Morehead City, NC. After attending Harvard Business School for his Masters in Business Administration, he worked for IBM in their Cambridge Scientific Center as a data processing analyst. Jim and Bev lived in seven more cities across the country before deciding to return to Morehead City for their retirement. Jim was a devoted husband and father, an avid golfer, and in recent years enjoyed playing contract bridge and the companionship of the family golden retriever, Maggie. Over the years, he also served as deacon and as a Stephen Minister in the Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Neff Connor; daughter, Kathleen Nomicos, and her husband, Nicholas, and granddaughter, Stephanie, of Belmont, Massachusetts; son, Robert, and his wife, Alyssa, and grandchildren, Max and Hadley, of Framingham, Massachusetts; brother John (Jack) Connor, and his wife, Gail, of Avon Lake, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ellen Dewey and brothers, William Connor and Brian Connor.
