Obituary Joseph Francis DeStefano, 71, of Morehead City, died Monday, December 21, at Duke University Hospital, Durham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at St. Egbert Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas R. Davis officiating. He was born in Altoona, PA on March 14, 1944, to Ralph and Mary Spallone DeStefano. Mr. DeStefano retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and was the owner of J and J Builders in Emerald Isle, NC. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his wife, Joan C. DeStefano; daughter, Rachelle Baldinger (Brian) of Alum Bank, PA; son, Joseph F. DeStefano, Jr. (Kellie) of Ducansville, PA; stepdaughters, Kathleen Ruehr of Morehead City, NC, Jane Coltabaugh of Swansboro, NC, and Jennifer Ruehr of Morehead City, NC; stepson, Stephen Ruehr of New Bern, NC; sisters, Doris Daniels of Altoona, PA and Lucille Crawford of Hollidaysburg, PA; grandchildren, Haley Baldinger, Zachery Baldinger, Adalyn DeStefano, Kyle DeStefano, Nicholas Coltabaugh, Jessica Coltabaugh, Alex Coltabaugh, Seth McConnell, Gabriel McConnell, David Ruehr, and Aidan Ruehr; stepgranddaughter, Sierra McGinnis. In addition to his parents, his brothers, Ralph DeStefano and Michael DeStefano, preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Morehead City Police Department, 300 N. 12th Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
