Obituary Biography Maria D. Gavin, 56, of Morehead City, died June 13, 2016, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at St. Egbert Catholic Church, with the pastor, the Rev. Thomas R. Davis, officiating. Maria was born in Los Angeles CA. to John Gavin and Zoila Segura Gavin. She spent most of her childhood in Middletown, NY. She is survived by her husband, Ron C. Garner of Morehead City; two children, Keith Bridges of Dingmans Ferry, PA and Nicole Bridges of Charlotte, NC; four siblings, Dorothy Weiss of Wallkill, NY, Michael Gavin of Enola, PA, Roberta Gavin of Morehead City, and Yetunde Johnson of Morehead City; one grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home, Monday, June 20, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. She is preceded in death by her father John Gavin of Mobile, AL, and her mother, Zoila McWhorter, of Orange County NY/Newport, NC and her sister, Catherine Hirsch, of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
