Obituary Milton Mickey Monroe Miller, Sr. 85, of Morehead City died May 26, 2014 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House after a battle with lung cancer. Born July 25, 1928 in Alamance County to the late Jesse M. Miller and Pearl Freshwater Miller, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Morehead City. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. He retired from Kingsdown in Mebane, NC as plant manager before moving to Morehead City in 1990. He and Bette dedicated their lives to God, serving the Presbyterian Church and volunteering many hours to Carteret General Hospital while making countless individual acts of kindness to others. Mickey is survived by a daughter, Virginia Gail Miller of Graham, NC, a son and daughter-in-law, Milton Buddy M. Miller, Jr. and Kaye H. Miller of Newport, NC, 3 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and nieces and nephew, Jack Horner and wife Debi of Newport and a grandkitty, Beavis Miller. He is also survived by his special friends from Harborview Towers and breakfast buddies from Petes Diner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bette Horner Miller. Visitation is Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Brooks Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Morehead City from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Crystal Coast Hospice House, 100 Big Rock Weigh, Newport, NC 28570. The family wants to thank the nurses and staff at the Crystal Coast Hospice House for their excellent care and compassion.
