Obituary Our dearly beloved Corretta "Sissy" Washington ascended to her Heavenly home on Monday, January 24, 2022, from Cherry Hill Healthcare Center in Birmingham, Alabama. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11 am at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Morehead City with Pastor Shadrach Barrow officiating. Corretta, affectionately known as Sissy, or Mama Sissy, touched the lives of all she came in contact with. She loved the Lord and she uniquely shared the gift of His love in which helped her cultivate the lives of many. Mama Sissy loved people and enjoyed interacting with them sharing the Word of God and His Son Jesus Christ. You werent going to enter her home & not be told about Jesus or be shown His love through this mighty woman of God. When she had a phone & answered a call youd hear "Praise the Lord." When she ended a call, shed say "I love you more." Thats just who Mama Sissy was. To truly know her was to Love her. She joined St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at a very early age. As she grew in the natural, she also grew spiritually. God in graced her with wisdom & great insight. She credits her gifts to God Almightys divine plan for her life. She received her education in the Carteret County school system, W.S. King School in Morehead City, North Carolina & Queen Street High School in Beaufort, North Carolina. She was also educated in the Cartersville, Florence County, South Carolina school system, as well as the Cape May County, Cape May, New Jersey. Mama Sissy, always shared the 4 Seasons. Year after year of learning & teaching to the fullest of the seasons. She always began in the Spring, a pleasant time of the year. Everything comes alive & life is good. we see green everywhere, all shades of green. New Birth & New Life being generated. Then comes Summer, it replaces spring with hot weather, fun time, ocean swims, more sunlight in the day to laugh and play. Then summer ends & Fall begins. Fall or Autumn is a time of dying, when the tree leaves change and display many earthly colors and the grass is brown. Then comes Winter. In winter the trees are bare, it brings snow, freezing ice & coldness everywhere. Yet we still survive. The ground is hard, and covered almost without life. Yet we know deep inside of we have a beginning, & an ending; all things must pass. To every East there is a West and to every sickness there is healing. Our City, is sitting on a hill, & it cant be hidden. May God Help You and may you rejoice soon.
