Obituary Parker G. Bloomfield, 91, of Morehead City died Friday, July 7, 2017, at Carteret Health Care, Morehead City. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, July 17, 2017, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. E. Powell Osteen, Jr., officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow in the church columbarium. Mr. Bloomfield was born in Augusta, NY, to George and Elizabeth Parker Bloomfield. He served his country in the United States Army with the 163rd Engineer Battalion, during World War II. Mr. Bloomfield worked and retired as a mechanical engineer for IBM out of Charlotte. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity all over the country. Parker was a member of the N.C. Maritme Museum, The History Place, Harvey W. Smith Watercraft Center, Friends of Fort Macon, and First United Methodist Church. He is survived by a son, Kevin R. Bloomfield of Concord; a sister, Mary Verch of Morehead City; grandsons, William P. Bloomfield of Concord and Matthew A. Bloomfield of Fort Drum, NY 10th Mountain Division. In addition to his parents, his wife Naida M. Bloomfield, and his daughter, Mary Ellen Bloomfield preceded him in death. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
