Terry Anthony Rhodes, 73, of Morehead City, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House of Newport.
Terry was a dedicated public servant and beloved member of the community. Terry dedicated 30 years of his life as a 911 dispatcher for the Carteret County Sheriff's Office, a role in which he served with unwavering commitment and compassion. His voice was often the first to offer reassurance in times of crisis, and his calm demeanor brought solace to countless individuals in their moments of need. Before his esteemed career in dispatch, Terry honorably served in the United States Navy.
Terry's love for his family and community was the cornerstone of his life. He was known for his big heart and generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand. A master of the grill, Terry's passion for cooking pigs was legendary. He reveled in the joy of gathering friends and family for a pig picking, seizing any opportunity to celebrate and bring people together over good food and great company.
A service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home in Morehead City. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Wednesday.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy Rhodes of Morehead City; daughter, Amy Rudd and husband, Ronnie of Morehead City; two grandsons: Travis Rudd of Louisburg, NC; Trevor Rudd and wife, Elizabeth of Newport; three great grandchildren: Brayden, Allie Jo, and Emma; brother, Ross Rhodes of Kinston; niece, Angie Boloney and husband, Dan; nephew, Ross Rhodes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Edna Whaley Rhodes.
