Obituary William Emory Trainham, Jr. 94, of 7021 Archers Creek Drive, Emerald Isle, North Carolina died Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Crystal Coast Hospice House, Newport. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Cape Carteret Presbyterian Church, The Reverend Ben Burrows and Dr. Robert B. Oltman officiating. The Reverend Trainham was a graduate of the University of Richmond and Union Theological Seminary and received an M.B.A Degree from Baldwin Wallace College, Berea, Ohio with graduate studies at Southwestern Seminary, Wake Forest, North Carolina and Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey and Clinical Certification in Counseling from the University of Chicago. He was a parish minister for 25 years in Southern Baptist churches in Virginia and North Carolina during which he served as consultant and counselor in supervisory/management training and development for motor carriers, furniture and textile industries interprofessional groups, hospitals and health care institutions and retail merchants in the southeastern United States. He was a lecturer and teacher in management for civic, business, industrial, professional, college/university groups and health care organizations. His early ministry was served in churches in Virginia, Myers Park Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina and First Baptist Church in Lenoir, North Carolina. In l968 he became Director of Management Development and Marketing for Republic Industrial Institute, a division of Republic Steel Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio. and in l971 became the Chairman of the Business Administration Department at Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio. During his tenure at Ashland University, Emory and Brownie established Trainham and Associates, a management counseling and education ministry to more than 60 businesses and industries throughout Ohio until their retirement in l992. Emory was a past member of the Board of Elders and supply minister of First Presbyterian Church of Ashland, Ohio. He also served as President of the College Faculty Club and a member of various administrative and faculty committees with the University. He was President of the Board of Directors of the Ashland County AAA Association, and former member of the Board of Directors of the U-Brand Corporation of Ashland. Emory retired as Professor Emeritus from Ashland University in 1992 and moved to Emerald Isle, North Carolina. Served as Director of White Oak Ecumenical Outreach Ministries from 1998 to 2002. Served as an Elder and supply minister at Cape Carteret Presbyterian Church from 1996 to 2013, Interim minister at Grace Presbyterian Church, Beaufort, NC, Bourse Manager for Emerald Isle Stamp Club, and an Emerald Isle Commissioner 1999-2001. Wife of 47 years, Brownie B. Trainham. Daughters: Marsha Dixey and Lisa (Chuck) Dahlgren. Preceded in death by stepson Maurice (Kim) Keyes. Stepchildren: Joe G. Keyes, Lee and Lisa Keyes and Tim and Jennie Keyes. Ten grandchildren: Erin and Madison Auten, Amy and Mike Callihan, Jason and Amanda Chapman, Halley and Harrison Keyes, Caroline and Grace Keyes, and Kyleigh and Connor Keyes and great grandchildren Michael, Ella and Ty Callahan and Nicholas and Davis Chapman. Two nephews: Alan McCall and Richard McCall. Preceded in death by his parents: William Emory Trainham, Sr. and Elizabeth Watts Trainham of Richmond, Virginia and sister Elizabeth (Ben) McCall.
