Obituary Anthony "Tony" DeKoning, 48, of Morehead City, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2016, at Brooks Funeral Home, with Rev. Jack Mumford presiding. Burial with military honors, will take place at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2016 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville. Tony was born July 18, 1967 in Lake Charles, LA. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, that enjoyed boating and fishing with his family and friends. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard, retiring as a First Class Petty Officer. He is survived by his wife, Crystal Rankin DeKoning of Morehead City; 2 children, Kelsy Nicole DeKoning and fianc, Jeffrey Nelson, Jr. of Newport, Gerrit John DeKoning of Newport; his parents, Gerrit DeKoning of Midland TX and Gwen DeKoning of Morehead City: one grandson, Carter Michael Nelson of Newport. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Sunday, January 3, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Carteret Health Care Foundation for Raab Oncology Clinic, P.O.
