Billy Ray Cannon, 86, of Newport passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.
Billy was a fixer of all things his life was marked by his unwavering faith and his remarkable handiness. He was a dedicated church member to Holly Springs Baptist church in Newport. His sense of humor was a gift that he shared generously, never missing an opportunity to brighten someone's day.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Virginia “Willie” Cannon; one daughter, Anita Buck-Walker (Clint); one stepdaughter Pat Holland (Tom); one grandson, Alan Buck (Olivia); two granddaughters, Sarah, and Mary Holland; one great granddaughter, Kayler Bolton. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his four siblings; Robert Cannon, Roy Cannon, Betty Manning, and Ada Wasylyshyn-Johnson; one step-son, David Allen.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that you make a donation to Martha’s Mission of Morehead City; The Broadstreet Clinic of Morehead City or a local charity of one’s choice.
The graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2024, at Bayview Cemetery in Morehead City with Rev. Mitchell Parker officiating. The family will be at graveside for a visitation starting at 12:30p.m prior to the service.
