It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Boyd Steel Sensenich, Jr., affectionately known as Buck to his friends and family, who departed this world peacefully in his sleep on November 4th, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on March 6th, 1937, he lived a full and adventurous life, leaving behind a legacy of love and an unwavering dedication to his family.
A proud and hardworking man, Buck spent twenty-five years working at the Naval Air Rework Facility, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues as a skilled sheet metal mechanic. His commitment to excellence took him beyond the everyday work. Twice, he traveled to Antarctica to assist the National Science Foundation, repairing aircraft to ensure the success of vital scientific missions in the world’s most extreme environments.
Above all, Buck’s greatest pride and joy was in his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Alice, with whom he shared sixty-seven incredible years of marriage. Together they raised three children, Tess Chapoton, Dutch Sensenich, and Karen Colby, and built a family legacy that continues to grow, including eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family all of whom he loved dearly and cherished deeply.
Buck was a lover of adventure, always eager to explore the outdoors and connect with nature. He found peace in the simple pleasures – crafting poems and letters that resonated with humor, wit, wisdom, and warmth, tending to his garden, walking through the woods, or enjoying the company of his dogs. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting on the porch marveling at the power and beauty of lightning as it lit up the sky. It was in these moments, surrounded by nature, that his spirit truly came alive.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where the family will gather to share stories, laughter, and the love he so generously gave throughout his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Buck’s name to the Humane Society, honoring his lifelong love for animals.
Buck will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
