Carl Edward Williams, 72, of Cedar Point, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at his home.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Carl retired with the rank of Commander after a distinguished career. As a nuclear engineer he served as Executive Officer of the USS California, plank owner of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, and spent his final tour at the Pentagon marking his place in naval history with dedication and honor.

Beyond his military service, Carl was an adventurer and a man of many talents and passions. He sought seashells by the seashore, was a skilled woodworker and photographer, capturing beauty through both craftsmanship and lens. A devoted gardener, he found joy in cultivating life from the soil. His mechanical abilities were evident in one of his proudest personal achievements—building his beloved Ford Shelby Cobra by hand.

Carl also took great interest in preserving history. As a Boone high school and NC State graduate, he took pride in bringing people together and ensuring stories and legacies were not forgotten.

A memorial service will be held in Swansboro at a later date.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Williams of Cedar Point; son, Bradley Carl Williams of San Jose, CA; brother, Jim Williams and ChaCha of Todos Santos, Mexico; brother, Louis Williams and Patty of Cape Cod, MA; sister, Christy Davis of New York City; aunt, Ruth Turner, Dallas TX; two step sisters, Sandy Kirk Walker of Wilmington, NC; Lori Key, Greensboro, NC; twelve nieces and nephews: Josh, Allana, Solen, Emerson, Liza, Anders, Reese, Steven, Patrick, Katie, Ben, John; and his beloved dog buddy, Sawyer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Williams; mother, Julia Williams, and step mother, Elaine Williams.
