Carolyn Bailey, 94, of Morehead City, peacefully passed away on the first day of fall, Monday, September 22, 2025, at Carteret Landing.
A private graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Carolyn is survived by her devoted son, Alan Bailey and his wife Jamie of Morehead City; her beloved grandson, Hunter Bailey and his wife Savannah, of Morehead City; her sister, Virginia Gilgo; and her nieces, Cheryl Gilgo and Angela Gilgo, also of Morehead City.
Born on August 4, 1930, in Stacy, North Carolina, Carolyn was the daughter of Connie and Hattie Daniels. She was raised in Stacy and graduated from Atlantic High School. Driven by a calling to care for others, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC.
Carolyn began her nursing career at Wilson General Hospital before moving to Morehead City with her husband, Glenn, and their son, Alan. Later in life, she continued her service to the community by working at Neuse Mental Health Center, where she dedicated herself to the care of mental health patients. Nursing was her greatest accomplishment for which she held a deep passion.
Outside of her work, Carolyn found great joy in gardening and tending to her beautiful yard overlooking the Newport River. She had a love for flowers and spent many hours tending to her plants, often sharing them with her loved ones. She was especially proud of her azaleas and looked forward to their blooms every spring.
Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She centered her life around her family. She also adored her neighborhood in River Heights and spent wonderful times with her sweet and caring neighbors who kept a close eye on her after her husband of over 56 years, Glenn, passed away.
