Charles "Bear" Garrett

Charles “Bear” Thomas Garrett, 64, of Swansboro, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at his home in Swansboro.

Bear was a volunteer Fire Fighter with the Broad Creek Fire Department. He also worked for five years aboard the USS Dahl with the Merchant Marines.

The family will celebrate his life privately. 

He survived by his wife of 36 years, Charlotte Garret of Swansboro; son, Wiley Garrett of Swansboro; daughter, Carrie Croy-Owen of Garner, NC; granddaughter, Ava Marie Owen of Garner, NC; sister, Diana Wambold of Seaford, DE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Freda Garrett and sister, Joyce Ann Horne.
