Cristina Como

Cristina Como, 83 years old, passed away peacefully in Newport, NC on the morning of July 23, 2026.

Cristina was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1943, to parents Albert Nealon and Hilda Nealon. She lived in Buenos Aires until moving to New York with her family at 18 years of age.

Cristina worked many years in the airline industry, followed by several years as a foreign exchange trader. Her last professional career she worked as a real estate agent on the North Fork of Long Island, before retiring and moving to North Carolina with her husband, Joseph Como. She spent the last phase of her life doing what she loved most, traveling, painting and spending time with Joe.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Como; her children, Richard Hessel, Katherine McGrath and Anna Clejan. She is survived by her step-children, Francesca Como and Victoria Como; her grand-children, Forest Jones, Zoe McGrath, Juliana Clejan, and Daniela Clejan; her siblings, Alfred Nealon and Liliana Nealon, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church in New Bern, N.C.
