David Knapp

David Ashby Knapp, 73, of Newport, passed away Saturday, August 23,2025, at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City, NC.

The family will be holding a celebration of life at a later date.

He is survived by his devoted wife Charlotte Whiteside Knapp of Newport, NC.; one daughter Stephanie Knapp of Virginia Beach, VA.; three sons Dave R. Knapp and wife Danielle of Bettie, NC; Michael A. Knapp and wife Bridgette of Newport, NC.; Brandon L. Knapp of Newport, NC. Along with five grandchildren, Anthony Louis Knapp, David Ryan Knapp Jr.(DJ), Summer Mae Knapp, Anna Kathryn Knapp and Levi Jacob-Ashby Knapp.

David is proceeded in death by his Grandparents Elwood and Pearl Waterfield; Mother Martha “Estelle” Jannette; Father Donald C. Knapp; Brother Kenneth C. Knapp(Kenny); and his Uncle Robert “Bobby“ Waterfield.

David loved his family fiercely and absolutely loved spending time with his family but especially his grandchildren even if it was outdoors fishing or crabbing or teaching them to enjoy peaceful moments of life sitting outside surrounded by nature.
