Evelyn Matthews Hall, 74, of Morehead City, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Born on September 12, 1951, in Morehead City, North Carolina, Evelyn was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, nana, and friend. She was known for her sense of humor, strong opinions, and home-cooked meals. Her home was filled with endless stories of family pastimes, shopping adventures, and unconditional love.

Evelyn was married to her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Bernie Hall III, for over 55 years. Together, they built a beautiful life and family.

She is survived by her daughters, Connie Hall Tell and Heather Hall (partner, Elizabeth Lewis); her son, Bernard “Bernie” Hall IV (significant other, Mary Hall); three cherished grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Tell, Emmarie Hall, and Adeline Hall; her sisters, Mary Ann Lewis and Bonnie Barefoot; and her brother, Randy Matthews—all of whom she loved deeply and of whom she was immensely proud.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Joseph Matthews and Georgia Daniels Parson, and her nephew, Michael Lewis.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Evelyn’s memory to Carteret Health Care Home Health & Hospice, in gratitude for the exceptional support and compassion they provided: https://www.carterethealth.org/giving/donate-now/

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
