Gerald Daryl “Jerry” Austin, born January 12, 1946, peacefully passed away on May 2, 2026. A lifelong resident of Beaufort, Jerry was deeply connected to his community and the coastal life he loved.
Jerry will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and the meaningful relationships he built throughout his life. He took great pride in his roots and in the simple joys of being surrounded by family and the place he always called home.

Jerry worked as a seafood broker throughout his life and remained active in his work until his final days. He was employed with Nixon Fisheries in Edenton, where the Nixon's became family to him, a bond that extended beyond business.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Russell Austin and Madeline Gould Austin, and his brother, Robert Leroyal Austin.
Jerry is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 60 years, Victoria Gorges Austin; his daughter, Alicia Austin Nelson and partner, Frank Hobson Eastman; his granddaughter, Kathryn Austin Nelson, and his great-grandson, Hudson; his son, Gerald Daryl Austin, Jr., wife, Ann Ashley Austin; and his grandson, Trey Penn Austin.
