May 8, 1937 — April 9, 2024

Gordon “Casey” McQueen Jr., 86, of Morehead City, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at his home.

Gordon McQueen, affectionately known as "Casey" to his friends and family, passed away peacefully after a life marked by dedication to his community, his faith, and the culinary arts. As a long-standing member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Morehead City Congregation, Casey found great joy and purpose in his faith, which guided him throughout his life and provided a sense of fellowship and service.

Casey's entrepreneurial spirit and passion for baking were the heartbeats of Morehead City for over 27 years. As the proud owner and operator of Rex Bakery, he was renowned for his delicious baked goods and the warm, welcoming environment he created. Patrons often entered as customers and left as friends, a testament to Casey's ability to make every individual feel at home.

After his venture into the bakery business, Casey honed his skills and work ethic at Holsum Bread, where he was known for his reliability and the quality of his work. His experience in the industry was extensive and well-respected, laying a strong foundation for his future endeavors.

Casey's leadership abilities shone brightly during his time as the manager of Pizza Inn in Morehead City. His knack for management and his culinary expertise made the establishment a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. Recognizing his talent and ambition, Casey eventually took the leap to become the owner and operator of Pizza Inn in Beaufort. There, he continued to build a legacy of delicious food and exceptional service, leaving an indelible mark on the community.

The loss of Casey is deeply felt by those who knew him, both personally and professionally. His commitment to his faith, his love for his community, and his passion for baking have left a lasting impression that will not be forgotten. Casey's life was a recipe of kindness, hard work, and generosity, and the memories he created will continue to be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
