Helene Milhaven

Helene B. Milhaven, 93, of Pine Knoll Shores passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026, at home.

Her family will celebrate her life privately at a later date. 

She was born November 21, 1932, in Locust Valley NY to the late Russell and Helene Dorn Wansor. A native to Locust Valley NY, Ms. Milhaven was a 1954 graduate of the State University of New York (SUNY) Cortland where she earned a bachelors degree. 

She later went on to receive her Montessori Primary Diploma. She met her late husband, William R. Milhaven, while they both attended Cortland College, and they married in August of 1954. They were married for over 50 years until his passing in 2007. Before retiring to Pine Knoll Shores in 1992, Ms. Milhaven was a New York State Public School Teacher and later went on to own and operate a Montessori School in Long Island New York. She was a long time volunteer at the Beaufort Historic Association as the education program coordinator and historical tour guide. 
Ms. Milhaven was also a long time volunteer of Pine Knoll Shores and wrote articles for the Shoreline. 

Her three loving children are eternally grateful to both their parents, Helene B Milhaven and William R. Milhaven, for raising them in the most beautiful place, Crane Neck, Setauket, NY. May they both rest in peace together now.

She is survived by her three loving children, and her four grandchildern.
