James "Bubba" David Thomas, Sr.

James "Bubba" David Thomas, Sr. was born on August 7, 1970, in Morehead City, NC, and passed away on September 25, 2024.

Bubba appreciated the simple pleasures of life and found much joy in singing Karaoke. His enthusiasm for playing sports video games reflected his competitive spirit, particularly as a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. A connoisseur of collecting trinkets, he lived by the motto, "One man's trash is another man's treasure."

A graveside service will be held on October 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Amariah Garner Cemetery in Newport, NC. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man whose memory will live on in the hearts of many.

Bubba's family was of utmost importance to him. He is survived by his devoted mother, Donna Sue Garner of Newport, NC; his son, James David Thomas, Jr., also of Newport; his cherished sister, Mendy Thomas Hall of Newport; his niece, Deanna Johnson of Newport; his best friend, "Yak" Jacob Daniels of Newport, NC; and his friend of 35 years, John Giltz.  Each relationship was a thread in the fabric of his life, adding to the warmth and love he shared.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy David Thomas, who left an indelible mark on his life and will forever be remembered.
