Jean Marie (Gerard) Comstock, born on July 14, 1942, in Bronxville, New York, passed away on May 7, 2026, at the age of 83.

She was raised in Naugatuck, Connecticut, and moved to Hubert, North Carolina, in 2019. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and Mattatuck Community College. Jean was a devoted parishioner of St. Francis Church, where she found faith, friendship, and a strong sense of community. She was an active participant in the prayer line, offering support and prayers to those in need. After relocating to Hubert, North Carolina, Jean joined St. Mildred's Church, quickly forming meaningful friendships and connecting with others who shared similar values and interests. Through regular visits and gatherings, Jean embraced this new chapter, enriching her life with companionship and shared experiences.

Jean retired from JLT Enterprises and later worked part‑time for the NOW program in Waterbury, Connecticut.

Jean found joy in life’s quiet pleasures, often seeking peaceful moments to unwind and reflect. Among one of her most treasured memories was the time spent with her sister Carol, exploring the boat launch, capturing photographs, and watching the graceful swans glide across the water. Whether birdwatching, feeding the birds, or nurturing her plants, Jean embraced these serene activities as a source of comfort and happiness. She possessed a free‑spirited outlook and frequently referred to herself as a hippie. Upon entering her home, one would likely be greeted by the sounds of classic rock echoing from her record player. "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd always held a special place in her heart. Time spent with friends was deeply valued, particularly those late‑night conversations that brought laughter and connection. In addition to the fond memories shared, she left behind her cherished dog, Bradley.

She is survived by her daughters: Maureen LaRose-Poirier and her husband Robert Poirier, Joanne LaRose, and MaryLou LaRose. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tania Dill, Alicia Guldin and her husband Terry, Cassandra McDowell and her husband Clay, Randall Molloy, and Angela Molloy, along with her great‑grandchildren: Alexander Dill, Sebastian Dill, Delilah Dill, Samantha Guldin, Rarity Molloy, Emma McDowell, and Connor McDowell. She is also survived by her nephew, Bob Kindulas, and his wife Melinda; her great‑nephew, Ryan Kindulas, and his wife Kaitlyn; her great‑niece, Rachel Fasulo, and her husband Andrew; and her great‑grand‑nephew, Ethan Kindulas, as well as great‑grand‑nieces, Audrey Fasulo and Brooke Fasulo.

She was predeceased by her husband, William "Ken" Comstock; her sister, Carol (Gerard) Crean; her mother, Alice Gerard; and her father, William Gerard.

A rite of committal service will be held at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck, Connecticut, at a later date to be announced. The family looks forward to gathering with friends and loved ones to share stories, remember Jean, and celebrate her life.
