Jean Kerwin

Captain Jean Marie Kerwin, 89, of Morehead City, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at home.

To celebrate Jean's life, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, at St Egbert's Catholic Church in Morehead City. A visitation will take place an hour prior at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Bayview Cemetery in Morehead City.

It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Jean, who left us on February 5, 2026, just two days shy of her 90th birthday. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a loving mother, wife, friend and proud Marine. Her best friend and husband, Major Paul Kerwin, left his earthly life three years ago. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Hal and Jim; and sisters, Marjorie and Eileen.

Jean dedicated her life to God and to her family, always putting their needs above her own. She was known for her kindness, strength, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment to her faith as well as her love for animals, reading, solving jigsaw puzzles and connections with friends and family. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or important life event.

She is survived by her daughter, Meg Kerwin; Meg’s husband, Scott Tobin; niece, Haley Panzer; grandniece, Riley; and her “grand puppy”, Major Tobin, recently rescued and named in honor of her husband, Major Paul C. Kerwin.

The family would also like to greatly thank Crystal Bluffs for their high quality of compassion, professionalism, expertise, and service.

Jean will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
