John Hester III

John “Johnny” R. Hester III, 75, of Morehead City, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at his home.

A longtime resident of the area, John dedicated many years of service to the Town of Morehead City before retiring. His commitment to his work and community left a lasting impression on those around him.

John was a devoted follower of Jesus, and his faith was a guiding force throughout his life. His spiritual devotion shaped his values and interactions, offering strength and comfort to those who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home of Morehead City. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00 at the funeral home.

He is survived by his son, Johnathan Hester and wife, Christina of New Bern; daughter, Luvida Hester of Raleigh; son, John R. Hester IV and wife, Shannon of Rocky Mount; granddaughter, Naijh Damon and husband, Keenan of Archdale, NC; granddaughter, Minaya Williams of Raleigh; grandson, Hakeem Hester of Rocky Mount; grandson, Zarif Hester of Rocky Mount; and his miracle grandson on the way, David Johnathan Hester; seven siblings: Lawrence, Kenny, Claudia, Debbie, Violet, Darnell, and Althea.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillie Hester.
