John Michael Keefer

John Michael Keefer, 63, passed away on Saturday February 14, 2026 in Pine Knoll Shores, NC.

John was born on October 20, 1962 to Jack and Ava Keefer. He grew up and went to school in Cook County, Illinois. After school, John went on to enlist in the Navy and spent some time on the U.S.S Dewey. He as well ran 6 marathons during his younger years in life.

John was married to Kelly Keefer for 32 years and they have 3 wonderful children; Jack Keefer, Hannah Fettig (Will Fettig), and Caroline Keefer (Blake Eaton). He has 2 sisters Linda Keefer and Patty Wagner.

John enjoyed the simple things in life; long chats, music, history and sports including the Chicago Bears and White Sox, who he was a loyal fan to. You can say he was a walking encyclopedia; he loved to read and learn anything he did not already know. John pursued a career change later in life and was a medical assistant for a few years before his passing. His family will remember him as being deeply empathetic and loving the ones he cared for the most.

John was preceded in death by his father, Jack Keefer, and his half siblings, Bill and Kay.
