John William Sasser

John “Jay” William Sasser, 68, originally of Wilson, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025. Beloved Dad, “Bop-Bop,” Brother, and Friend, Jay was a proud Marine Corporal Veteran who loved his country. During his service, he was a M-16 Rifle Sharpshooter who was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Metal. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He didn’t know a stranger. 

Jay is survived by his wife, Donna Sasser of Newport; daughters Allison “Nicky” Wright of Durham; Tina Glover of Wilson (son-in-law William “Willie” Barnes); and fur baby Sassy of the home; sister Dean High of Swansboro (brother-in-law Ray High); Granddaughter Bailey Glover of Wilson; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and family at Tina Glover’s home (5337 Castlewood Dr. Wilson, NC) on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 4-8pm and Friday, February 28, 2025 from 2-8pm.
