Morehead City

Linda Lou (Davis) VanPelt, 73, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on June 7, 2026, at her home.

Linda was born to William “Bill” and Verda (Williams) Davis in Greenfield, Iowa. She was one of 12 children and grew up in a rural farming community. She spent much of her life in Creston, Iowa, marrying Frederick “Rick” Van Pelt, Jr. (they later divorced) and raising three children. She was committed to raising her kids and being involved in their school activities. She was creative, a talented seamstress, and enjoyed interior decorating, redecorating her entire home one room at a time, ensuring even the smallest details were not missed. While still in Creston, she worked in the fiscal department at MATURA Action Corporation.

Linda was drawn to the ocean and in 2006, she made the decision to relocate to Eastern North Carolina to be near the water. For the next nearly 18 years she worked for the Carteret County Partnership for Children as their Financial/Program Director. She retired in 2024.

She found peace in North Carolina and its beaches. She enjoyed walking on the beach and listening to the crashing waves. She became a collector of seashells. Every visit from family would include a drive to the beach and sitting to watch the ocean. She enjoyed scrap booking and had a craft/scrapbooking room that many would envy.

Linda is survived by her children, Kimberly (Jeff) Lutrick, Linda J. Voss, and Rick (Emily) Van Pelt III; her siblings, Mardelle Meyer, Mary (Don) Swanson, Roger Davis, Carol Lightell, Becky (Dave) Crown, Marshall (Beth) Davis, Debbie Davis, and Dan (Cindy) Davis; her grandchildren, Lincoln, Mitchell, Rachael, Ashley, Adam, Maxwell, and Malcolm; her great-grandchildren, Kayden, Avalynn, and Jackson; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Verda; her siblings, Phillip Davis, Karen Davis, and infant brother Stanley Davis.

Honoring Linda's wishes, she was cremated and her ashes will be scattered at sea.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends and loved ones simply keep Linda in their thoughts and memories.
