Marilyn Monroe Henderson

Marilyn Henderson, 58, of Swansboro, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Marilyn was a dedicated nursing home cook whose meals brought comfort and joy to the residents she served. Her cooking was cherished by many residents.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. Marilyn’s warmth and care left an indelible mark on those who knew her.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Spring Garden Missionary Baptist Church of Bogue. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park in Newport. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church.

She is survived by her daughter, Latoya Whitney of Newport; granddaughter, Ariyanah Pearson of Newport; grandson, Antwan Pearson of Newport; father, Horace Henderson and wife, Linda of Jacksonville; sister, Vonda Godette and husband, William of Havelock; brother, Stacy Henderson of Hubert; brother, William Henderson and wife, Heather of Newport; and brother, Daryl Henderson of Havelock.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Earlean Henderson; daughter, Tia Whitney; brother, Horace Henderson Jr.
