Michael Mies

Michael “Mike” Powell Mies of Beaufort, NC passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the day before his 49th birthday. He was born and grew up in northwest Ohio but considered the coast of NC his home since moving there in his early 20s. Among other things, he loved the beach and ocean, Star Wars, and playing with his granddaughters. His family and friends will cherish memories of his sense of humor, witty comebacks, playfulness, and kind heart.

He is survived by his wife, Shannon Lewis; stepdaughters Krystal Lyons (husband David Lyons) and Samantha Bedwell (husband Ethan Bedwell); and granddaughters Lydia Lyons and Aurora Bedwell. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen (Powell) Jordan, and is survived by his father, Robert “Bob” Mies, stepfather Randy Jordan, and sister, Kassy Mies.
