Nancy Brooks Detweiler

Nancy Lee Detweiler, 87, of Morehead City, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug 25, 2025, at Carteret Health Care Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18 at 11 a.m. at First Methodist Church, 900 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC. Visitation will take place at 10 a.m. at the church. 

Nancy, a former minister for the Disciples of Christ Church, had a Bachelors degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, a Master’s Degree in Counseling Education from UNC-Greensboro, and a Master’s Degree from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA. She and her husband, John Detweiler, who preceded her in death, were avid travelers, visiting areas such as the Middle East and Central America.

She is survived by her daughter, Julia Poblete, her siblings Evelyn Smith, Joyce McCollum, and Allen Brooks, all of Morehead City. She is also grieved by countless other beloved relatives and friends around the country and abroad. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that your gift be sent to First Methodist Church in honor of Nancy Detweiler. Thank you for your prayers at this sad time.
