Nelson T. Lewis Jr.

Nelson T. Lewis, Jr. of Raleigh, NC, passed away on July 20, 2024 at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. He was 93. 

Nelson grew up in Beaufort, NC and was a graduate of Beaufort High School. He was a four-year veteran of the US Navy and later a graduate of North Carolina State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He then joined IBM Corp. where he spent the next 31 years before retiring in 1991. 

Having grown up on the water, Nelson was an avid wreck diver in earlier years and later loved a good game of golf with friends. He was a true engineer in every sense and always quick to help someone with a project. he was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betsy, and daughters Thorn of the home, Kim of Mount Jackson, VA, and Jenny of Palm Springs, CA> 

Nelson was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie H. Lewis of Morehead City, NC and his father Nelson T. Lewis of Beaufort, NC. 

Cremation services are provided by City of Oaks Funeral Home & Cremations, Raleigh, NC. At Nelson's request there will be no funeral. His ashes will be placed in the family plot in Bayview Cemetery, Morehead City, NC.
