Obituary Robert 'Bob' Joseph Cantelli, Sr. 94 of Morehead City, NC was called home on Sunday, May 3, 2020. The beloved husband for 55 years to the late Lois Wetherington. Bob was born on June 17, 1925 in Quincy Massachusetts to the late Louis Cantelli and Francesca Zacchini. He attended Quincy Vocational Technical High School and then enlisted into the United States Marines as a Corporal where he proudly served as part of the flight crew during WWII. In March of 1946 Bob left the Marine Corps and the following month joined NARF as a machinist in the Metals and Process Division where he continued to work for 35 years, retiring as a Management Analyst in 1981. A private graveside service for the immediate family only will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Gethsemane Memorial Park with the Rev. Thomas R. Davis presiding. There will be a drive by visitation at Gethsemane from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm. To maintain social distancing please remain in your vehicle during the visitation. For safety purposes, friends and other family members are requested to enter and exit by way of the McCabe Road entrance. In 1946 he moved to Morehead City where he became a parishioner of St. Egbert's Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Lois and spending quality time with his family. Bob was known for his Christmas lights display which brought joy to many over the years. In his earlier years he enjoyed boxing, managing junior league baseball, and bowling. Over the years and up until he turned 92 years old, he golfed regularly at Morehead City Country Club. He was known for his sense of humor and hilarious stories which we will all miss. Preceded in death by his loving wife Lois whom he married on November 21, 1947 and brothers Edmund Cantelli and William Cantelli, brother-in-law Joseph LaPierre, and cousin Ed Sironi. He is survived by his children; Robert J. Cantelli Jr. and his wife Karen Cantelli, John T. Cantelli and his wife Theresa Cantelli, David Cantelli, Patricia Wuerker and her husband Dave Wuerker. His grandchildren; Kevin Cantelli, Alicia Cantelli, Jason Cantelli, Ashley Cantelli, and Ryan Wuerker. He is also survived by his sister Frances LaPierre and her daughters Denise, Patricia, and Lynn, sister in-law Mary Cantelli and her children Edmund, Richard, Ronald, Gracie & Maryanne, sister in-law Virginia Cantelli and her children Steven, Karen, and William, and cousin Iola Carr and her family.
