Ted Pace, 74, peacefully passed away surrounded by his friends on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City.
No services have been scheduled at this time.
Ted was born and raised in Durham around Falls Lake. He attended Duke University before he transferred to NC State University where he obtained a Master’s degree in horticulture. As a horticulturist, Ted loved all types of vegetation, trees, grass and shrubbery. Ted could tell you the name of any plant by just observing it. He eventually retired from the Town of Atlantic Beach as the Public Works Superintendent.
Ted was an avid fisherman. He excelled in the king mackerel tournament circuits during the 80s and 90s primarily fishing on Team Eliminator with his best friends. Ted eventually found his main love was for inland fishing for trout and drum; and he would sometimes keep a flounder because it was Granny’s favorite.
Ted had a multitude of friends and was always willing to help. He had mastered the art of banter and relished in his ability to roast those close to him. For more than 50 years, no day in Ted’s life would have been complete without talking to his best friend, Bobby Moore.
As much as Ted loved his friends, no person could match his love for his wife, Sallie Francis. Ted and Sallie were married in 1981 and moved permanently to Harkers Island in 1987. They both lived a great life doing what they wanted. Ted can now be with his Sallie again.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Ted's name.
