Valeria Smith

Valeria Smith, 96, of Beaufort, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Carteret House in Newport, N.C.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Oceanview Cemetery with Pastor Patrick Whaley officiating. A visitation will take place on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home from 2-3:30 p.m.

Valeria was a family-oriented woman who enjoyed crafting, whether it be crocheting or painting decoys with her late husband. She was a member of multiple organizations, including Chapter 128 Order of the Eastern Star, in Beaufort; a Mother Advisor of Naomi Assembly #7 International Order of the Rainbow Girls; and a member of the Rebecca Lodge. Valeria was a woman of faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Beaufort for many years.

She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Smith Masters (David), Richard “Richy” Smith Huneycutt; son-in-law, Wayne H. Cox; granddaughter, Kaitlin Gibbs (J.D); Grandson, Kenneth Travis Masters (Brittany); great granddaughter, Reagan Gibbs; great grandson, Lincoln Gibbs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas Lawrence and Blanch Spencer Lawrence; husband, Richard Travis Smith; daughter, Aleta Smith Cox; and all of her siblings, which consisted of four brothers and five sisters.
