Virginia Daniels Gilgo, 81, of Morehead City, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home with Pastor Wesley Holmes officiating. Visitation will take place an hour prior.

Virginia dedicated her career to the Carteret County School System, retiring from an administrative role after years of service in education. Her steadfast commitment left a meaningful impact on those she worked with and supported throughout her tenure.

She was a devoted mother to her daughter Angela for 61 years, treasuring their close bond and the life they shared.

Gardening was one of Virginia’s greatest joys. She found peace and fulfillment among her plants, tending each one with care and patience. Her love for nurturing growth reflected her gentle nature and deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.

She is survived by her two daughters, Angela Gray of Morehead City and Cheryl Gilgo of Morehead City; nephew, Alan Bailey and wife, Jamie of Morehead City and their son, Hunter Bailey of Morehead City. She continued a close relationship with her sisters-in-law and her niece: Hazel Arthur of Bettie, Debbie Anderson of Beaufort, and Vonne Lewis of Bettie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Connie and Hattie Daniels; sister, Carolyn Bailey.
