Wayne Pope

Wayne Thomas Pope, 66, of Newport, passed away on April 11, 2025 with his loving family by his side at the Crystal Coast Hospice House of Newport. 

Wayne was the oldest child, born on October 23, 1958 to parents Thomas Pope and Mary Jane McDonald (Ruma) in Boston Massachusetts. 

Wayne is survived by his mother Jane McDonald, his loving daughter Gina Carey and her husband Jim, three grandchildren Michael and his wife Brooke, Gianna, and Liam, and two great granddaughters Ella and Layla. Wayne has three surviving brothers and one which he was predeceased. 

Wayne was a commercial truck driver for the past 35+ years. He moved from Massachusetts to Newport, NC in 2002. Wayne was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and son, He loved spending time with his family. His favorite thing to do was be on the sidelines supporting his grandchildren as they played sports. Wayne was a die-hard Boston sports fan! 

Wayne always had a smile on his face and a story to tell whether it be about sports he played or his adventures over the road. He will be greatly missed by so many, especially his daughter, son in law, grandchildren and great grandchildren .
