Willie Budgett Jr. was born on October 4, 1946, to the union of the late Willie Budgett Sr. and Eva Williams Budgett of Morehead City, N.C. He completed his earthly journey on Saturday morning, June 6, 2026, at Carteret House Assisted Living Facility in Newport, N.C.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church of Morehead City. A private burial will take place at Bayview Cemetery in Morehead City.
Willie Jr. was a native of Morehead City, N.C. and a graduate of W.S. King High School. While at school, he was known for his basketball skills and was given the name, Willie “Bad News” Budgett. He was a member of St. Like Missionary Baptist Church. Willie Jr. was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. While living in Angier, N.C. at Absolute Health Care Assisted Living Facility, he would often ask about various family members and friends.
Willie Jr. was a man of few words, but when he was engaged in conversation, he would share experiences which led one questioning, “When did you do that?”, or “When did that happen?”.
Willie Jr. was good at reading maps, good with numbers and very talented with his hands. Whenever you would go by his home you could find him chilling on the porch or working on his car.
Willie Jr. is survived by his devoted and loving sister, Eldress Jennie Budget Garcia (Porfirio); nephew, Dr. Terry T. Budget, of San Antonio, TX; niece, Eva Haynes (Kenny) of Newark, NJ; brothers, Mitchell, of Beaufort, NC, Raphele (Greta) of Durham, NC, great niece of the heart, Jordan Budget of Johannesburg, South Africa; also his nieces and nephews, Cameron, Stephen, Catherine, Kenneth, and William.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Bobby.
