Obituary

GySgt Edgardo "Ed" Hojilla III (USMC Ret), 64, of Newport, NC passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at ECU Health in Greenville, NC.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, June 5, 2022 in the chapel of Noe-Brooks Funeral Home, the interment will follow in Amariah Garner Cemetery. The family will receive friends the evening prior from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home.

Ed was born July 1, 1957 in Manila, Philippines, the son of Erlinda Saroca Keller and the late Edgardo Hojilla Jr.  He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps, and Newport was home for the last 35 years. Ed was known for his witty humor, laid back nature, and his huge heart for people. He could cook a mean steak, loved BIG and was so proud of his growing family.

Ed is survived by his wife of 45 years Marchita Cacundangan Hojilla, daughters; Jahara Hojilla Chaiz, (Felix); Julien Hojilla Goodman (Mikel); sons; Edgardo “Eddo” Cacundangan Hojilla IV, (Cayla); Dr. Edwin “Victor” Cacundangan Hojilla (Kimiko); Kyle Steven White (Kimberly); grandchildren, Giovanni Hojilla Chaiz, Dominic Hojilla Chaiz, Xavier Hojilla Chaiz; Tori Hojilla Goodman, Jenna Hojilla Goodman, Johnnie Hojilla Goodman; Callen Kai Hojilla, Mireya Nanami Hojilla, Milalini Mitsuko Hojilla, Keanu Naito Hojilla, Vera Ekumi Hojilla, Kolby Steven White and Karleigh Aspen White.

He is also survived by his mother, Erlinda Saroca Keller; brothers, Edwin Saroca Hojilla, Kenneth Frederick Keller, Modesto "Ting" Hojilla, Enrico "Jojie" Federico Hojilla, and Euru Baltar Hojilla; and sister, Melissa Hojilla Fermin.
