Eugene "Gene" Miller

Eugene Miller, 87, of Morehead City, passed away Thursday March 30, 2023, at his home.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday April 5, 2023, at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Eugene “Gene” James Miller, a proud Scotsman was born on June 5, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a successful husband, father and businessman. All who had the great chance of knowing him admired and were inspired by him. After moving to California in 1978, he ultimately started his own successful business. 

Gene married Helen May Thieroff in 1962 and quickly thereafter followed four children: David Carroll Miller, Karen Diaz, Susan Dmytryshyn and Carolyn Delelee. 

After their divorce, he married Johnice Doshier Brooks in 1990and welcomed stepson John Brooks into his heart. They eventually moved to and enjoyed retired life in Morehead City, North Carolina. The location was ideal – not only Johnice’s birthplace but also A Fisherman’s Paradise where Gene loved fishing and crabbing with grandchildren off his dock and on his boat, The Johnice One. 

Gene is preceded in death by his son, David Carroll Miller,father, James Earnest Eli Miller, mother, Jane Dolan and older brothers, James Miller and Frederick Miller. He is survived by his beloved wife, Johnice, his daughters, Karen, Susan and Carolyn, their mother Helen, stepson John, sons-in-law David and Laurent, grandchildren, Johnathon, Amanda, Charlotte, Jeremy, Louis, Isabella and Harleigh as well as six great-grandchildren.
