Jill Kettering Taylor passed away peacefully on September 2, 2023, at her home in Morehead City, North Carolina, surrounded in love by her family.
Jill was born in Grafton, West Virginia, to the late M.W. “Jack” and Madonna Kettering, and spent most of her life in Charleston, West Virginia, where she worked as a legal secretary for the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office.
With Jill, in her final days, were her adoring husband of 27 years, Silas Taylor; her beloved son, Wendell Lane Kettering and his wife, Nicole; sister Donna Kettering and her husband, Hugo Melczarek; sister Kay Kettering Moore; brother Glen Kettering; niece Tracy Kettering (daughter of Jill’s deceased brother Lane Kettering); and stepdaughter Kira Taylor. Jill was also survived by a horde of nieces and nephews; stepdaughter Holly Taylor; and her lifelong beloved friend, Kim Lawson.
Jill was a beautiful person, inside and out. A loving wife, mother, stepmother, sister, dog mom, and a huge WVU fan. Whenever a family member or coworker needed help, Jill was there. In the words of her late father, Jill was “good, just plain good.” She heroically fought a decade-long battle with cancer without ever losing her cheerful and generous spirit. During those years, Jill found happiness in traveling with family to her favorite beaches and mountain locales, often accompanied by her pets, and in attending family weddings. She spread love and joy wherever she went and left precious memories for all who were lucky enough to be with her.
